American Legion Scholarship

4 Scholarships for $1,000 each and 4 scholarships for $2,500 each. 

  • 1.  Must be children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of American Legkionnaires in good standing for 2 or more consecutive years.  Step children of living Legionnaires may apply if their parent is currently married to Legion Members. 
  • 2.  Applicant or Legionnaire must be a resident of Arkansas. 
  • 3.  Must have received a high school diploma or the equivalent by the time this scholarship will be awarded or be a graduate of a two-year college from an Arkansas Institution.
  • 4. The scholarship application must be submitted by the student and signed by his or her parent or legal guardian. 
  • 5.  Applicants must provide: one character reference in business letter format from an official of the student’s school, one letter of endorsemenet from an American Legion Post Officer (local preferred), and one from an unrealted person belonging to none of the above. 
  • 6.  A certified copy of the student’s transcript along with ACT or SAT scores and class rank. 
  • 7.  A declaration of support for the Preamble to the Consitution of the American Legion, as printed on the application. 
  • 8. A Drug-Free Pledge is required as printed on the application. 
  • 9. One color photograph (approx. 3x5) and written authorization to use it.  The photograph will be used for press releases. 
  • 10. On a separate sheet of paper, using an essay format, provide a brief autobiography.  Be sure you describe your plan for achieving your educational and career goals and what led you into this career pathway.  Explain your experiences and activities that were helpful in developing your leadership skills and justify why you are the most qualified to receive this scholarship.

Complete information was emailed to all students.  This is a one-time award.  Deadline for applications is March 11, 2022. 

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation

$20,000 (150)

Each year, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 to high school students across the United States through the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Students need a 3.0 GPA and to fill out an online application that requires no essays, no recommendations, and no transcripts by October 31, 2021, at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Hagan Scholarship

This is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship designed to help rural students graduate college debt-free.  Recipients must have financial need and must graduate from one of over 6,000 eligible publick high schools listed on the HSF website.  The scholarship provides up to $48,000 over four years to attend college and other benefits.  Hagan Scholars from 43 states are currently attending 378 colleges and universities.  Over six hundred more scholarships can be awarded in April 2022.  Visit the HSF website for more information. www.hsfmo.org  Email: scholarships@hsfmo.org

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • 1.  Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • 2.  Must attend an eligible public high school.
  • 3.  Must have a 3.75 cumulative grade point average. 
  • 4.  Must enroll at an eligible four-year college or univeristy the first semester following high school graduation. 
  • 5.  Must work 240 hours during the tweleve months prior to fall semester college enrollment. 
  • 6.  Must provide the FAFSA SAR showing the EFC.  Must be Pell Grant eligible.
  • 7.  Must apply for Federal and State grants, if eligibile. 
  • ​8.  Must not have been convicted of a felony.

National Space Club Scholarship

Provided to a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student with definite plans to pursue a career in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics).  Deadline: November 30

  • Participate in a program-approved college readiness program in grades 11 and 12
